Indigenous Apprentices

The CDPG and Pathway Plumbing Service partnership

The Cooke & Dowsett Plumbing Group (CDPG) team together with 100% Indigenous owned partners Pathway Plumbing Services are proud to announce we have been successful in securing the Chelsea Train Station Upgrade which forms part of the State Governments Level Crossing Removal Project for client Acciona Coleman Rail JV. The new Chelsea Train Station is designed to enhance connections around the area.

The CDPG and Pathway Plumbing Service partnership has seen the recent employment of three indigenous apprentice plumbers who will each benefit from the training and mentoring that this partnership provides.

CDPG were proud to support this local Ballarat project - congratulations to all involved!

LinkedIn article:

"Exciting to see #BallaratGovHub on the eve of its launch this April. Built by Kane Constructions Pty Ltd and Nicholson Construction, it is the largest mass timber structure in regional Australia and provides spectacular panoramic views of one of Australia’s golden cities. It was certainly sparkling on Friday as Industry Capability Network - Victoria toured the 4 levels of this State Govt project with Richard Nicholson and Kyle of Nicholson Construction. The Kane Nicholson consortium represents 2 firms committed to regional Victoria over many years. It is the largest endeavour for local family-owned Nicholson Construction (est in 1889 and based in Ballarat) who are part of building yet another legacy for Ballarat #construction . Up to 230 workers have been on site daily, and it has over-achieved in terms of supporting #localapprentices and trainees. All that, and it looks wonderful, especially the local Krause Bricks (from Stawell) complementing the Zinc cladding. I am sure that the 800 people who are soon to make it their working home will be comfortable in this building and precinct."

1breadcrumb Application

Cooke & Dowsett are excited to be introducing the 1breadcrumb application into our business. We are rolling out the application which is a private geofencing app that acts as a virtual wallet, private check in and check out service, and workplace mapping tool. It alerts managers if their staff or patrons have been in contact with someone onsite with COVID-19, therefore helping to mitigate the risk of potential outbreaks.

Ultimately, the 1breadcrumb system puts the power back into the hands of Cooke & Dowsett while complying with Worksafe mapping and OH&S protocols. Workplace safety has always been a top priority for us and this tool is really improving our safety & efficiency for all staff and visitors.

The platform is currently being used by Cooke & Dowsett on the University of Melbourne – Student Precinct Project and will continue to be utilised across other projects in Australia and New Zealand.

Other industries looking for a simple solution to contract tracing have embraced this technology and are engaging 1breadcrumb to assist with managing an automated checking process while ensuring the privacy of users.
