CDPG Danish Apprentice Exchange Program
We are thrilled to announce the arrival of Danish 3rd Year Plumbing Apprentice, Nicklas Thomson who is here for 5 weeks as part of CDPG’s Apprentice Exchange Program. The exchange program is an excellent opportunity for apprentices interested in learning and developing their plumbing skills whilst working abroad.
Nicklas who is completing his apprenticeship with our host plumbing company Finn L. & Davidsen A/S in Denmark will be exposed to all facets of plumbing across both the commercial and maintenance sectors during his placement. Thanks to our team who have taken the time to entertain Nicklas and show him the Aussie sights!
Since the program’s inception in 2015, 10 apprentices have had the opportunity to travel and experience the different approaches to plumbing – did you know in Denmark the water rough-ins are continuous pipe runs i.e. there are no connections, tees or bends concealed behind the wall!
Domestic hot and cold-water supply to individual fixtures are ran from the source. Could you imagine; to plumb a standard bathroom (WC/SHR and Basin) allowing 5 individual continuous pipe runs all the way back to the source?
If you see Nicklas at one of our Victorian project sites, please say G’Day and make him welcome.

NEW PROJECT | Thomas Embling Hospital Expansion – Stage Two
Thomas Embling Hospital Expansion - Stage Two
Thomas Embling Hospital is a secure forensic mental health hospital, providing care and treatment for people living with a serious mental illness in, or at risk of entering, the justice system. With significant growth in forensic patients and increasing demand for mental health beds in the justice system, the stage two expansion will ensure that Victorians most at risk can access mental health services in a secure, contemporary, and recovery-focused environment.
Construction on stages one and two are underway and main works are due for completion in 2024. This John Holland project responds to key recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
Ben Dowsett announced the project win by ringing the bell at VIC HQ. Ben is currently studying Construction Management at RMIT and assists our Estimating Department as part of the CDPG Graduate Program.

On completion, the development will accommodate more than 800 CSL employees including early-stage research and product development teams, commercial operations, corporate functions and support services. The building will include seven floors of office workspaces and nine floors of laboratories and research and clinical phase production suites. Indigo Hotel
Project Update - Hotel Indigo & Residences in New Zealand.
Icon's LinkedIn article:
"BREAKING GROUND AT INDIGO HOTEL & RESIDENCES
Last week in New Zealand we celebrated a momentous milestone - the ground-breaking of Hotel Indigo & Residences with our client 94 Feet Pty Ltd.
The retained heritage façades date back to 1912 and are a key feature of the development. The façade retention and refurbishment; coupled with small building footprint and restricted access present some special construction challenges which have been overcome through extensive planning in consultation with the authorities and neighbours.
Icon are proud to partner with Ninety Four Feet on its unique 41 level tower level that will be a great addition to the Auckland CBD. "
